About Sussex CelebRants

Wedding, Funeral and Family Celebrants

Celebrant in Sussex

Gillian Covey

A lifetime spent caring for people and supporting them through key moments in their lives, led me to the point of becoming a Life Celebrant. I am a proud graduate of the Academy of Modern Celebrants where I qualified in Funeral, Wedding and Naming Celebrancy.

I have had a long career in Nursing and Education which has comprised many interesting roles and my clinical background was largely in palliative care.

After retiring I missed working with people and I also trained as a portrait photographer, shooting my fair share of weddings, people and animals.

It would be fair to say that I like to keep busy,

but perhaps you can get a feel for my professionalism, creativity, public speaking abilities and empathetic ear.

How does it all tie together? Well, years of writing lecturers and teaching means that I am great at story telling, and my nursing experience means that I am a good person to have on your side in times of need both.

Trude and I met when our kids were young and we were both school governors. We have a very similar sense of humour and outlook on life.

Laura Rusbridge

My name is Laura and I have lived and worked in East Sussex all my life. My passions are family, animals and nature, I spend a lot of time outdoors enjoying the countryside and beach.

With my friendly, outgoing and giving personality, becoming a celebrant was a natural career choice. I love to meet new people and provide a friendly and professional service for them.

I carry out weddings, funerals and naming services, all written with love and commitment. I deliver beautiful ceremonies and services and enjoy exploring with my families and couples to provide the best service I can.

I am the proud winner of Best Wedding, Funeral and Family Celebrant Award South East 2023, from Southern Enterprise Awards.

Alongside my celebrant role, I’ve been lucky enough to have a varied career in business and marketing. I love nothing more than meeting people, understanding what makes them tick, and supporting them through a wide range of situations. Also, and unusually, I really enjoy public speaking, and love the creative process needed to craft the ceremony you are looking for.

Gillian and I met as neighbours nearly 20 years ago and became firm friends very quickly, and I am delighted that we now have the opportunity to work together.

My approach is one of inclusivity, fun, humour and collaboration honed over many years of working closely with people, all of which makes me very well suited to creating the perfect ceremony for you.
