On a day of glorious spring sunshine and blue skies, the team at Sussex Celebrants took to the road for a venue visit. We went along to the beautiful Blackstock Country Estate in Hellingly, East Sussex, which is around 26 miles outside of Brighton and within the South Downs National Park and we were so impressed at what we saw!
Blackstock has a fabulous array of facilities for ceremonies, weddings, and events. It has two stunning barns; one of which dates back to the 16th century, and is set within a breathtaking 70 acre estate.
The whole estate, which has been lovingly restored, has an incredible feel and there is real attention to detail throughout. Aside from the South Downs vista and exciting photographic opportunities; if that wasn’t enough, the venue has magnificent accommodation for close family and friends to stay overnight. The cottages are very high end with excellent attention to detail. We were even shown the wedding party make up/dressing room specially designed on site, a perfect hideaway to prepare for the big day or just to pause and take a moment. Of the features which we were really struck by, was the potential for an amazing immersive family experience, sleeping up to 22 people, including a bridal cottage.
There are spaces for drinks, canapés and an outdoor courtyard for guests to enjoy the outstanding vista. There is even an outside area to get married with a beautiful pergola surrounded by rolling lawns. The grounds are extensive, overlooking the Ashdown Forest with rolling fields full of animals and birds, we were particularly delighted with the Emus!
If you love the idea of chandeliers, beams, romantic ambience, then you have to consider this venue. The two barns which hold the ceremonies and the wedding breakfast or seated events (up to 180 people) are all fully licensed, and ensure that all your guests have an incredible experience. Certainly going by the photos and reviews on google.
The staff are really passionate about what they do and are committed to delivering a great service. They are licensed for civil weddings but they also see the value in the personalised modern celebrant wedding ceremonies movement, which can offer a more bespoke wedding design service and longer service.
